CS Wind is doubling wind turbine tower production by expanding its manufacturing plant in Pueblo, Colorado.

Construction is underway this month for the expansion project, with the first phase of the new facility expected to be complete by summer 2024. Phases two and three are expected complete by 2028.

South Korea-based CS Wind is the world’s largest turbine tower manufacturer. The company purchased the Pueblo site from Denmark-based Vestas in August 2021.

Burns & McDonnell is designing and constructing the expanded facility and will also assist with environmental permitting.

When the expansion is complete, CS Wind’s total footprint will be more than 850,000 square feet. The expansion is expected to boost the plant’s overall production to approximately 10,000 wind turbine tower sections per year.

Additional investment in the facility was made possible by tax incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Burns & McDonnell. Two goals outlined in the legislation include building up domestic clean energy supply chains and creating clean energy jobs.
